Kristina becomes addicted to crank and her whole world changes as she falls into a downward spiral of drugs and bad decisions. As "the monster" as she calls it begins to grasp her life her alternate ego, Bree, steps up to the plate and welcomes the challenges of the dark side. Bree not only starts with crank but then moves to taking other drugs and becoming sexually active. In the end she becomes pregnant and has to cope with her new life as she eventually becomes a mother. The main conflict of Crank becomes very apparent even by the title.
